Alcatel Onetouch Idol Alpha coming to SA

Alcatel introduced its Onetouch Idol Alpha smartphone to the South African market today, 1 July 2014. The Alpha will be available in SA from 7 July 2014, and will have a recommended retail price of R5,999.
The Idol Alpha launched internationally in September 2013, and features a 13MP camera, 1080p video capture, and translucent edges at the top and bottom of the handset.
Vodacom and MTN will stock the handset, and Alcatel is in talks with Cell C and Telkom Mobile to add the phone to their rosters.
During the launch, the phone’s “unique design” was punted, along with the promise it will cost “a fraction of the price” of competing smartphones.
The Onetouch Idol Alpha runs on a Quad Core 1.2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery.
