Samsung Galaxy S5 mini announced

Samsung Electronics announced the third generation in its “mini” device range, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini, in a press release on Tuesday, 1 July 2014.

It features a 4.5-inch 720p display, quad-core processor, and an 8 megapixel camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini will also support Category 4 Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, Samsung said.

While it won’t have the kind of powerful processor used in high-end devices such as the Galaxy S5, Samsung said that a number of the features in its flagship will be available on the Mini.

These include: IP67 dust proofing and water resistance, Ultra Power Saving mode, a heart rate monitor, and fingerprint scanner.

According to the press release, the Galaxy S5 mini will be available in Russia from early July with plans to expand to the global market from there.
