The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be coming to South Africa, a spokesperson for Vodacom has told MyBroadband.
However, initial indications are that the Gear VR accessory for the Note 4, and the new Galaxy Note Edge smartphone, will not be available in South Africa immediately.
Samsung introduced the latest iteration of its large-screen Galaxy Note smartphone range at IFA in Berlin on Wednesday, 3 September 2014, along with a new device it calls the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
Like the normal Note, the Edge has a large display (5.6-inch), but also has a thin additional display which curves from the main screen onto the right edge of the device.
Wearable technology also featured prominently at Samsung’s event, and one of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of a new virtual reality (VR) headset accessory for the Note 4.
Called the Samsung Gear VR, the device was made in partnership with Oculus VR, the company known for its Kickstarter-funded Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
While Samsung said that the Galaxy Note 4 would become available globally from October 2014, it did not offer launch windows for the Edge or Gear VR, saying only that they would launch in select markets during 2014.
Pre-registrations for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are available through Vodacom dealer Cellucity.
