Vodacom will launch the Samsung Galaxy Alpha on 15 September 2014 at a recommended retail price of R9,979, the mobile network operator has announced.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be exclusive to Vodacom until January 2015, the network said, and will be available on a Vodacom Smart S contract for R499 per month.
Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Alpha in a press release on 13 August 2014, and said the smartphone would launch globally from the beginning of September.
The device is set to feature many of the flagship bells-and-whistles included on the Galaxy S5, including an Octa-core processor and fingerprint scanner.
However, it trades the plastic shell of the Galaxy S range for a metal frame, albeit at the cost of water and dust resistance.
