The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched in South Africa today, 24 October 2014, offering larger screen sizes and better performance than their predecessors.
All the mobile operators are offering the latest iPhones on contract, while the devices are also available for purchase from FNB, the Apple iStore, and Incredible Connection.
Contract prices for the devices on MTN and Vodacom emerged during the course of the week leading up to the launch, while Cell C and Telkom kept theirs under wraps until the last minute.
iStore, the Apple Premium Retailer chain which is owned by local distributor Core Group, eventually revealed what Apple’s new range of smartphones would cost on Cell C and Telkom contracts.
It announced that customers using its stores would be able to buy an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on contract from any of South Africa’s four mobile network operators.
iStore also revealed that First National Bank customers would be able to get their iPhones on one of the bank’s smart device deals.
Contract prices start at R419 per month from FNB for the iPhone 6 16GB without airtime, while prepaid pricing starts at R9,899 for the same device from the iStore.
