MyBroadband caught up with South Africa’s top telecommunications executives to find out which smartphones they use, and whether they prefer PC or Mac.
What we found is that the iPhone remains the weapon of choice for many executives, and Apple laptops are as popular as ever.
However, not all execs are using iPhones. MWEB CEO Derek Hershaw said that he recently moved to the Samsung Galaxy S5 after having endless problems with his iPhone 5s.
Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko said that he recently took ownership of a Blackberry Passport which “has been a pleasure to use”.
Axxess director Franco Barbalich prefers PC, and said that he loves the MSI Global GS70 Stealth laptop he got a few months ago.
Vodacom head of innovation Jannie van Zyl’s preferred smartphone is a Nokia Lumia running Windows Phone 8. However, van Zyl said that he has switched to an iPhone 6 due to bugs in the Windows 8.1 update.
The following image provides an overview of the preferred smartphones and computing platforms of South Africa’s telecoms execs.
