The HTC One M8 will start receiving an update to Android 5.0 “Lollipop” from 6 February 2015, according to an HTC spokesperson.
Roll out of the update to the new version of Google’s mobile operating system kicked off in most European markets on 28 January, and some users in South Africa have already reported receiving a notification to update.
The update promises to bring a number of new features to the device, as well as an update to HTC’s Sense user interface.
Sense 6.0 is set to bring Lollipop’s “Material Design” to the HTC One, and a number of other improvements such as built-in lock screen notifications.
To upgrade, users can go into their settings menu, go to “About Phone”, and then tap on “Software Update” to see if the update is available.
