WhatsApp Voice Calling details

WhatsApp has been preparing for the launch of WhatsApp Call, and has started beta testing the feature with some of its users, BGR India reports.

The tech news website went on to report that it received a call on 5 February 2015 from WhatsApp spokesperson Neeraj Arora – in WhatsApp.

Screenshots show that clients who have access to WhatsApp Calls will see a “Calls” tab and an old phone receiver icon next to a contact’s name.

No news regarding the launch date of WhatsApp Calls has emerged, and there is no indication of which phone platforms will be supported at launch.

WhatsApp was contacted for comment, but was not immediately able to respond to questions.

Update: A spokesperson for WhatsApp has said that they are able to confirm that voice calling is in testing with a small number of users, but added that they don’t have any other details to share.
