Samsung Galaxy S6 – most advanced smartphone in the world
Samsung unveiled its new flagship smartphone the Galaxy S6 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 1 March 2015.
JK Shin, CEO of Samsung’s mobile division, said the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge are the most advanced smartphones in the world.
The S6 features Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chipset, with quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 CPUs, and a Mali-T760 GPU.
The device comes with 3GB of DDR4 RAM.
Samsung said the new smartphones are not only powerful, but tough, too.
“The special metal that we use is 50% stronger than the metal in other high-end smartphones,” the company said, adding that the phone’s screen is made of Gorilla Glass.
The S6 also offers the best camera under any conditions and the best display, according to the smartphone maker.
The Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch quad-HD Super AMOLED display, with a pixel density of 577ppi (pixels per inch).
Looking at battery life, the company said the Galaxy’s charging is “faster than any other phone in the industry”.
It also features built-in wireless charging, which is compatible with both WPC and PMA wireless charging standards.
Samsung said 10 minutes of charging will give an S6 owner 4 hours of use, while charging from zero to 100% takes half the time of an iPhone 6.
The new Samsung Galaxy also features the most advanced camera in a smartphone, according to the company, with great performance in low light.
The 16MP rear camera is “alway on”, said Samsung, and can be activated in less than a second by pressing the home button.
Payment system Samsung Pay – which has partnered with MasterCard and Visa – will also be included with the S6.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge come in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz, and Green Emerald.
Vodacom has confirmed it will sell the Galaxy S6 in South Africa.
