Panasonic is in talks with South Africa’s mobile networks to bring its Eluga range of smartphones to the country, retail sales manager Thomas Matthews told MyBroadband.
Matthews was manning Panasonic’s smartphone display at its South African relaunch event on 20 April 2015.
The company showed off four smartphone models which it wants to bring to SA: the Eluga I, L, S, and S Mini.
All of the devices run on Android and use a custom skin with an app tray that looks different to the stock version of Google’s mobile operating system.
Rather than taking up the whole screen, the Panasonic UI app tray displays four rows of icons, which the company said makes it easier to reach icons when using devices one-handed.
