Vodacom has released its insurance claims statistics, which show that Vodafone (Vodacom), Huawei, and BlackBerry phones are most at risk of being stolen.
The Vodacom insurance claims statistics ranks the handsets based on the number of incidents as a percent of the number of that type of handset.
This provides the percentage chance of a handset being stolen, lost, or damaged, rather than only the raw number of incidents.
Theft and loss makes up about 60% of Vodacom’s insurance claims, physical damage 35% of claims, and being dunked in water 5% of claims.

The following list ranks mobile phones based on the percentage of insurance claims for damage – from highest incidence to lowest incidence.
- Vodafone / Vodacom
It is interesting to note that the two list are basically an inverse of the other. The reason for this is not known, but it may be related to the way consumers handle insurance claims.
