MixRadio launched on Android, iPhone in South Africa

MixRadio

MixRadio, a personalised music streaming service formerly owned by Microsoft and Nokia, is expanding to Android and iOS devices.

Previously exclusive to Windows Phone, the service was recently acquired by mobile messaging service Line, which freed it to launch outside of the Windows Phone ecosystem.

Along with its launch on multiple smartphone platforms, MixRadio also announced it has signed a partnership with HTC.

“MixRadio will exclusively provide music updates for HTC’s BlinkFeed, with personalised music news tailored to the users’ music tastes,” the companies stated.

MixRadio is now available in the Android and iOS application stores, and will continue to be pre-loaded on Microsoft’s Lumia devices, and offer a full service to Lumia users.

Nokia’s digital music services have long been supported in South Africa, and even after the change of ownership MixRadio said it will remain available to South Africans.
