South Africans will be able to get Apple’s new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus through Vodacom and MTN.
Vodacom said it will offer the new iPhones, although it is “not in a position to confirm availability dates and prices for the two devices as yet”.
MTN also confirmed it will offer the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, but could not provide prices or a launch date.
Telkom said that it will definitely carry the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, and that it has initiated discussions with Apple regarding the local launch.
New iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
Apple has called the new iPhones the “most advanced smartphones in the world”, featuring Apple’s third-generation 64-bit A9 processor.
They also feature “3D Touch”, which uses capacitive sensors integrated into the backlight of the retina display.
The iPhone 6S models will be capable of shooting 4K video from their main 12MP iSight camera, and will include an upgraded 5MP FaceTime HD camera on the front of the device.
LTE is twice as fast on the new devices when compared to the iPhone 6, with support for 23 LTE bands.
US pricing for the devices, on two-year contracts and unlocked (outright purchase), is as follows:

- 64GB – $299 or $749 (unlocked)
- 128GB – $399 or $849 (unlocked)
