Update: Huawei said the current version of the Mate S available from Vodacom does not support Force Touch. The version that does support it is scheduled to be available in early 2016.
The Huawei Mate S smartphone, which features Force Touch technology, has received South African pricing.
Huawei unveiled the Mate S on 2 September, just days before Apple launched the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, showing off the device’s pressure-sensitive display.
Huawei’s technology lets you press harder on the phone’s screen to trigger different actions than a normal tap would, which Apple introduced to its new phones under the moniker 3D Touch.
The Huawei Mate S is now available through Vodacom, going for R11,969.
The device is also available on a range of packages, including the Vodacom Smart S 24-month contract for R529 p/m, and comes in two colour options: mystic champagne and titanium grey.
