Huawei has announced the launch of its Mate 8 smartphone in China, saying that the device will be unveiled to the rest of the world at CES 2016 in January.

It features a 6″ full HD (1080p) display, and will run on Huawei’s new Kirin 950 chipset which has four A72 2.3GHz processor cores, and four A53 1.8GHz cores.

The Huawei Mate 8 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Huawei’s EMUI 4.0, and includes the new i5 co-processor for speech recognition; all the functions of a sensor hub; and reduction of power consumption.

Some of the power reduction features of the i5 Intelligent Processor include low-power consumption MP3, and lower consumption for location-based services.

Built from aerospace-grade aluminium and 2.5D curved diamond cut glass, the Mate 8 will be available in four colours: Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray and Mocha Brown.

The Huawei Mate 8 will hit the market from Q1 2016.
