BlackBerry to launch new mid-range Android smartphones

BlackBerry plans to launch two new mid-range Android smartphones before the end of 2016, according to its CEO John Chen.

The National reported that Chen aims to give users a “$400 device”, in contrast to the company’s recently-released Priv – which retails for $700 (±R13,000 in South Africa).

“A lot of enterprise customers have said to us, I want to buy your phone, but $700 is a little too steep for me,” said Chen.

The new phones will be available with a hardware keyboard or a full touchscreen, stated the report.
