Goodbye BlackBerry for Barack Obama

US President Barack Obama has received a state-of-the-art smartphone to replace his BlackBerry, but for security reasons the phone has only limited functionality.

Speaking on The Tonight Show, Obama said he loves tech, and was the first president to have a BlackBerry.

As the years passed, though, no one used a BlackBerry anymore, and it was time to move on, said Obama.

“And then, finally, this year, they said, good news Mr. President, they are going to give you a smartphone instead of the BlackBerry,” he said.

“I thought, this is cool. I have seen Malia and Sasha doing things on their smartphones, Michelle has three of them, texting and all this. So, I am excited.”

For security reason the phone was locked down, which resulted in many of its features being removed.

“It is a great phone, state-of-the-art, but it does not take pictures, you can’t text, the phone does not work, you can’t play your music on it.”
