How the Apple iPhone has changed over the past 9 years – photos

On 9 January 2007, Apple introduced us to the iPhone.

The company said the device combined three products into one – a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email and web browsing.

The first iPhone was bought on 29 June that year, and 74 days later, 1 million of Apple’s smartphones had been sold.

Since then, the iPhone has seen multiple performance and design upgrades – as detailed below in our nine-year overview of the evolution of the iPhone.

Non-core devices in the iPhone line-up – the iPhone 5C and iPhone SE – were not included in the timeline.
