BBM for Android and BlackBerry 10 gets new features

BlackBerry has released a new version of BlackBerry Messenger for the Android and BlackBerry 10 platforms.

CrackBerry reported that the BBM update includes upgraded group chat, longer video sharing, and the ability for iOS and Android users to make free video calls from BBM.

CrackBerry said BlackBery’s iOS updates usually roll out a few days after the Android and BlackBerry 10 versions.

New features for the BlackBerry and Android versions are:

  • Group chat with up to 250 contacts.
  • The ability to retract stickers and files.

The BlackBerry 10 app now displays photos, lists, and calendar updates in chat. Calendars and lists only work for groups of up to 50 contacts.

The Android app received the following upgrades:

  • Free video calling (already available on BlackBerry 10).
  • Share longer videos.
  • Set the duration for muting notifications.
  • Sign up for BBM using your phone number.
  • New Discover screen from where you can get stickers and subscriptions.
