Xiaomi South African stores in the works

Mobile in Africa Group (MIA) has confirmed it is planning to roll-out Xiaomi retail stores in South Africa.

The company said the project is still in its planning stages, so it could not reveal where or when it expects the stores to open.

These stores will stock Xiaomi products that have enjoyed international releases, such as the company’s low-cost mobile phones and related accessories.

Xiaomi products already on sale through MIA’s web portal include several smartphone models, the Mi Band fitness tracker, and the Mi Power Bank.

MIA said it decided to open stores locally in its ongoing effort to improve the customer experience for South African fans of Xiaomi.
