Samsung patents foldable smartphone

A patent application by Samsung shows that the company is looking at the possibility of a foldable smartphone.

As reported by The Verge, the patent was filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in April.

As seen in the headline image and the image below, the patent shows a slim phone with a hinge-like mechanism in the middle which allows it to fold in half.

“The device is described as something that can be folded or unfolded semi-automatically,” stated the report.

The report follows rumours that Samsung is planning on making devices with flexible OLED screens.
