WhatsApp two-factor authentication launched
WhatsApp has launched two-factor authentication in the latest beta version of the app on Android, Android Police reported.
It isn’t clear which versions of the app support the feature, but according to the report, at least v2.16.341 and above will have it.
Two-factor authentication for WhatsApp works by setting a six-digit PIN and recovery email for your phone number.
Once set, no one will be able to activate WhatsApp using your phone number unless they have the passcode or access to the email account.
Another feature enabled in the latest Android beta of WhatsApp is the ability to play voice messages in the background.
This means you will be able to begin playing a voice message, then navigate to a different conversation or even close WhatsApp while the message continues playing.
