How to check if your iPhone 6s needs its battery replaced

Apple recently announced a repair programme for iPhone 6s owners whose devices unexpectedly shut down due to a battery flaw.

Apple said the battery flaw in the 6s only affects “a very small number of devices” manufactured between September and October 2015.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, users can check if their device is affected by examining the serial number of the iPhone.

Go to Settings > General > About and scroll to Serial Number. Look at the 4th and 5th characters in the serial number.

If you have one of the following pairs, your device may be affected:

  • Q3
  • Q4
  • Q5
  • Q6
  • Q7
  • Q8
  • Q9
  • QC
  • QD
  • QF
  • QG
  • QH
  • QJ
