WhatsApp launches two-factor authentication

WhatsApp is rolling out “two-step verification”, which gives users an additional layer of security for their account.

The optional two-factor authentication will be available to users on iOS, Android, and Windows devices, and lets users create a six-digit passcode which must be used to register their phone number with WhatsApp.

Users are also able to designate an email address which can be used to disable the feature.

To enable two-step verification, open WhatsApp > Settings > Account > Two-step verification > Enable.
