Qualcomm sues Apple for crippling its chips

Qualcomm is suing Apple after the iPhone maker filed several lawsuits against the chip manufacturer earlier this year, The Verge reported.

According to the report, one of Qualcomm’s claims in its court application is that Apple didn’t use the full potential of the Qualcomm chips used in the iPhone 7.

Apple did this on purpose so that Qualcomm’s modems would not perform better than those provided by Intel, said Qualcomm.

When iPhones using Qualcomm chips allegedly outperformed Intel iPhones, Qualcomm said Apple falsely claimed there was “no discernible difference” between the two variants.
