Android users on old versions while most Apple devices have the latest iOS

The latest figures from NetMarketShare show that the majority of mobile users on Android are using version 6 and version 5.1 of the operating system.

This is in contrast to Apple users, with the company stating that as of 5 June, 86% of its mobile devices were running iOS 10.

The issue of slow Android update roll-outs is a problem Google is aware of, and the company has promised to speed up the process for users.

The table and graphic below show that for May 2017, Android was the dominant operating system overall – with 63.66% of the market.
