Luxury smartphone-maker Vertu liquidating
British luxury smartphone-maker Vertu will be liquidated, following a failed bid to save the company.
The BBC reported that the company – which sold phones costing well over R100,000 – will lay off almost 200 employees as part of the liquidation process.
A company spokesman told the BCC that Vertu has “gone into liquidation and I’m not being paid by them anymore”.
The Constellation, one of Vertu’s most recent smartphones, was set to launch at South African Vertu stores in Sandton Mall and the V&A Waterfront.
