The iPhone X is set to be the “new iPhone 6”, based on expected demand for the device.
According to Softpedia, GBH Insights analyst Daniel Ive said the iPhone X could generate a substantial number of upgrades for existing iPhone customers.
This was the case when the iPhone 6 launched.
Ive’s statement was followed by research from UBS and 451 Research, which stated that “iPhone purchase intent is at the highest level since the debut of the iPhone 6”.
69% of respondents in the study said they plan to buy a new iPhone within the next three months. The iPhone X accounted for 43% of the responses.
The iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone 8 are all based on the design introduced by the iPhone 6 – with the new design of the iPhone X said to be contributing to interest in the smartphone.
The iPhone X is expected to launch in South Africa in mid-November.
