The second half of 2018 saw the arrival of impressive smartphones with cutting-edge hardware, from the Huawei Mate 20 Pro to Apple’s new iPhones.
The iPhone Xs and iPhone Xr are powered by Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset, which was classified as the most powerful smartphone chip in the world at launch.
Competitors have followed suit, with Huawei launching its Mate 20 Pro powered by the Kirin 980 processor and Samsung recently unveiling its Galaxy S10 with the Exynos 9820 Octa chipset.
Power
To determine which smartphones are the most powerful in South African, we compared AnTuTu benchmark scores for each device.
AnTuTu is a popular benchmarking application and measures a number of variables – from CPU performance to memory.
As shown below, we ranked the smartphones by CPU score, to filter by pure performance, and we excluded devices which are not available in South Africa.
It is important to note that there is currently no benchmark data available for Samsung’s Galaxy S10.
The most powerful smartphones you can buy locally, listed along with their AnTuTu CPU score, are shown below.
