Honor 200 and 200 Pro prices and launch details in South Africa
Honor unveiled its latest smartphone line, the Honor 200 and 200 Pro, at an event in Bryanston, Johannesburg, on Wednesday, 24 July, 2024.
The devices will go on sale on 1 August and offer impressive specs for their price bracket. Honor says the 200 series takes studio-level portraits.
Regarding performance specifications, the Honor 200 Pro has the latest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s SoC.
Depending on the configuration, the processor is combined with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. It is also available with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage.
The Honor 200 gets a slightly less powerful chip in the form of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
The processor is combined with a choice of 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB of RAM. Regarding storage, buyers can choose either a 256GB or 512GB configuration.
Honor says the Pro’s RAM can be increased to 24GB using Honor Memory Boost.
Regarding displays, very little separates the two devices, with the Pro model’s display measuring just 0.08 inches larger than the base 200.
The Honor 200 Pro features a 6.78-inch 2,700 x 1,224-pixel OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The lower-specced Honor 200 has a 6.7-inch 2,664 x 1,200-pixel OLED with the same maximum refresh rate. Both displays can reach 4,000 nits at peak brightness.
Regarding photographic capabilities, both devices feature what Honor calls a Triple 50MP AI Portrait camera system. This includes two 50MP sensors on the rear and a 50MP selfie camera.
The rear camera system is the same on both smartphones and features a 50MP primary shooter, a 50MP telephoto sensor, and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.
This enables the devices to record 4K footage at 30 frames per second and 1080p video at up to 60 frames per second.
The 50MP selfie camera can also record 4K and 1080p video. However, frame rates are limited to 30 frames per second at both resolutions.
Honor has partnered with Studio Harcourt in Paris to train its AI portrait capabilities.
“With every shot, Honor 200 series captures the essence of Harcourt,” it said. “It combines amazing AI capabilities with powerful hardware.”
Honor’s 200 and 200 Pro feature large 5,200mAh batteries, which support 100W wired fast charging and 67W wireless fast charging.
This enables the smartphones to charge from zero to 50% in 15 minutes and to 64% in 30 minutes.
Both devices support 5G cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3.
