Vivo X200 Pro launched in South Africa

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has launched its flagship device, the X200 Pro, priced at R39,999.
Vivo’s GTM Manager for South Africa, Jay Yang, told MyBroadband that the device will initially be exclusive to Vodacom and Amazon South Africa and will be released on 7 February 2025.
A relative newcomer, the Chinese smartphone maker entered the South African market in 2019 and is still solidifying its local position.
According to Statcounter Global Stats, the company currently has a 1.78% share of South Africa’s smartphone market.
Vivo’s most recent product launch in South Africa was the V30, the first of its devices featured on all four major networks in the country — Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, and Cell C.
Similar to the V30, the X200 Pro’s primary selling point is the device’s camera.
The three lenses on the back of the device are very difficult to miss, given they take up nearly the entire 75.95mm width of the phone.
These lenses include a 200MP Zeiss APO Telephoto sensor, a 50MP Zeiss True Colour main sensor, and a 50MP Ultra Wide-Angle sensor.
Thanks to this camera setup, the X200 Pro allows up to 100x zoom and 4K HDR cinematic portrait video thanks to the Vivo V3+ imaging chip.
The Vivo X200 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,800 by 1,260 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
It comes equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor, 512GB of onboard storage, and 16GB of RAM.
The battery is 6,000mAh and can charge at 90W using a USB Type-C 3.2 and 30W wireless charging.
Vivo says the device’s standby time of 8.5 days was tested while connected to a WiFi network and receiving 2,400 WhatsApp messages per day.
Onboard, the X200 Pro comes loaded with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15.
It supports 2.4G, 5G, and 6G WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC payments.
The device also boasts various AI features, including Google’s Gemini assistant and Circle to Search, photo enhancement, note assist, and AI transcription.
The X200 Pro launching in South Africa will be available in two colours: Titanium Grey and Cosmos Black.
