Vodacom will offer the i9500 and i9505 models of the Samsung Galaxy S4, a spokesperson has recently confirmed to MyBroadband.

This means that South Africans can expect to have the option of the Galaxy S4 with an Exynos Octa processor, boasting two quad-core processors; and a device with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and LTE support.

The spokesperson explained that the Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 model will be the LTE version, and said that Vodacom expects to start selling Samsung’s new flagship Android device from 26 April 2013.

Information recently received by MyBroadband revealed that distributor Pinnacle Africa expects to sell the i9500 model. Dealer pricing for the Galaxy S4 from Pinnacle was revealed to be R7,099 excluding VAT.

Cell C and Virgin Mobile have confirmed plans to offer the Samsung Galaxy S4 once it launches in South Africa, with MTN saying that they are still putting it through its paces.

“MTN is currently testing the Samsung Galaxy S4 on its network to ensure customers enjoy the full capabilities of the device on our world-class smart network,” said Mike Fairon, GM of product & solutions at MTN.

“We anticipate to launch the device as soon all tests have been conducted and will therefore announce launch dates and pricing in due course,” Fairon said.
