iPhone 5 LTE now on Cell C
The iPhone 5 now supports Long Term Evolution (LTE) on the Cell C network, according to the Apple website.
Apple now lists Cell C as one of the carriers supported in South Africa by the A1429 model of its iPhone 5 smartphone.
According to Apple, this model of the smartphone supports three LTE bands:
- 2,100MHz (Band 1);
- 1,800MHz (Band 3); and
- 850MHz (Band 5).
Cell C previously said that their LTE network runs on 2,100MHz, while Vodacom and MTN both said that they use re-farmed spectrum in the 1,800MHz band.
According to MyBroadband readers, support for Cell C’s LTE network on the iPhone 5 was enabled by a recent carrier update that is pushed to devices.
