Nokia Lumia smartphones to get Smart Camera, FM radio
Nokia announced at a press briefing in London today (14 May 2013) that it would be rolling out features such as its Smart Camera software and FM radio application to Nokia Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8.
Called the “Nokia Lumia Amber” update, its announcement came from Nokia’s head of smart devices, Jo Harlow, following a demonstration of the camera capabilities on the new Nokia Lumia 925.
In the demonstration, Harlow and Stefan Pannenbecker, head of product design at Nokia, showed how Nokia Smart Camera captures ten images at once and then lets you edit them with options like Best Shot, Action Shot, and Motion Focus.
Harlow said that the Amber update would become available to their whole portfolio of compatible Nokia Lumia devices. The update is set to roll out from July 2013.
The Amber update won’t be limited to just camera software, though Nokia said it would only confirm a full list of changes later.
However, The Verge and Slashgear are reporting that the Amber update will also activate the dormant FM radio feature in many Nokia Lumia smartphones.
