LG Optimus G Pro coming to South Africa

LG plans to bring its 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro smartphone to South Africa by September 2013, head of mobile products at LG South Africa, Kenneth Hales, recently told MyBroadband.

The device will have support for Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks with the South African model boasting pentaband LTE support.

According to Hales, this means the device hardware will support Vodacom and Cell C’s LTE networks.

The key specifications of the device provided by LG are:

  • Chipset: 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Processor
  • Internal storage: 32GB / microSD (up to 32GB)
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Display: 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels / 400ppi)
  • Cameras: 13.0MP rear with LED Flash / 2.1MP front
  • OS: Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
  • Battery: 3,140mAh (removable / wireless charging capable)
  • Size: 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4mm

Pricing information on the LG Optimus G Pro will be available closer to launch.
