Sony Xperia Z Ultra 6.4-inch smartphone unveiled
Sony has introduced a new 6.4-inch semi-rugged Android smartphone at Mobile Asia Expo today (25 June 2013), claiming that it now has the largest display on the thinnest smartphone.
As with the other devices in Sony Xperia Z stable, the Xperia Z Ultra complies with the IP55 and IP58 specifications, which means it can be held under 1.5m of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. The specification also means it is dust resistant.
The massive 6.4-inch display is full HD (1080×1920), and while you’re bound to look silly holding it up to your ear, Sony has also announced a less ridiculous looking bluetooth handset to go with the device.
In a statement accompanying the launch of the Xperia Z Ultra, Sony said that it will launch globally from Q3 2013, with exact timing varying by market.
