Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Active, LTE on SA networks

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs Galaxy S4 mini

Vodacom plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE, Mini, and Active on its network during July 2013, a spokesperson for the company recently told MyBroadband.

“We’re hoping to have it in key stores by the end of July with wider availability in August 2013,” Vodacom said.

The spokesperson went on to say that pricing information will be available closer to the time of launch, and that Vodacom hasn’t yet made a decision on whether to stock the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

This information comes after Samsung responded to a customer on its Facebook page, saying that the Galaxy S4 LTE will only be available in August 2013.

In mid-June Samsung said the Galaxy S4 LTE would be available towards the end of June or early July. Before that, at the end of April when they launched the Galaxy S4 in South Africa, Samsung said they expect the LTE version of the device to be out around 8 June 2013.

It would therefore seem as though the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE in South Africa has hit a bit of snag.

Galaxy S4 device range on Cell C, MTN, Virgin Mobile

When Cell C was asked about its plans for Samsung’s new range of Galaxy S4 devices, they also said that they have no details on the Galaxy S4 Zoom at this stage.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is expected on Cell C towards the middle of the third quarter [which translates to August 2013], the network said, also adding that prices would be available nearer to the launch.

As for the S4 LTE and S4 Active, Cell C said it will begin testing them on the network shortly, after which it will decide whether to “range”, or commit to ordering stock of the device.

MTN’s head of products & solutions, Mike Fairon, said that they intend to range the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE and Mini later in the year, and have not yet confirmed the Samsung S4 Zoom and S4 Active.

“MTN will make the necessary announcements to media on availability and pricing once all relevant tests and quality checks have been done,” Fairon said.

Virgin Mobile said it’s only looking at the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini at this stage and do not plan to range the Zoom, LTE, or Active.

“We can’t confirm launch dates or prices as yet,” a spokesperson for Virgin Mobile told MyBroadband.

Telkom Mobile did not respond by the time of publication.
