Asked for clarification, Vodacom explained that those who pre-registered signed up to receive further information on the device, such as the launch details and deals.
Pre-order, on the other hand, is where customers can sign up to purchase the device, Vodacom said.
Once a customer has pre-ordered one of Vodacom’s agents will contact them to vet them for the device. If they qualify, the device will be delivered to them on a set date, Vodacom said.
Pre-registrations are available through other channels as well, though MTN’s option seems to behave more like Vodacom’s “pre-order”.
According to the MTN website, customers that pre-register will be contacted by call centre staff to vet them for a contract.
