LG G Flex specifications, US launch date

LG’s curved, flexible smartphone, the LG G Flex, will be available in the United States during the first quarter from Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile, LG Electronics announced on Monday, 6 January 2014 at CES in Las Vegas.

The LG G Flex was first released during November 2013 in South Korea, and then Hong Kong and Singapore in December.

Speaking at LG’s event during CES press day, Frank Lee from LG Mobile Communications in the USA said that the G Flex was not simply innovation for innovation’s sake.

According to Lee, the curved battery allows for greater capacity in the same amount of space as a flat battery. The curve also allows users “to hear better, to hold better, and to view better,” Lee said.

He said that in addition to hearing better when the phone is pressed against the air, the sound quality of the loudspeaker is also improved when the phone is resting on a table. This is because the ends of the device are slightly raised from the surface, Lee said.

The curved display also makes for a more comfortable grip on the LG G Flex, and also offers a cinematic viewing experience, Lee said.

LG provided the following key specifications for the LG G Flex in a press release that accompanied its announcement:

  • Processor: 2.26 GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 800 processor with quad-core Krait CPU
