Sony Xperia E1 SA launch window
Sony Mobile announced its new Xperia E1 Android smartphone in a press statement today (Tuesday, 14 January 2014), saying that it is expected to launch in South Africa towards the end of Q1 2014.
According to Sony, the Xperia E1 will be aimed as a mid-tier smartphone with good specifications and industrial design.
“It’s a new, music focused player in our Xperia line-up that is underpinned by the best of Sony’s design, display and content offers,” Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia marketing at Sony Mobile Communications, was quoted as saying.
Sony highlighted the following key specifications of the device:
- 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display
- 1.2 GHz dual core processor
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB storage
- Walkman key, shake to shuffle and hardware controls for easy music control
- Cat 14 HSPA+
- Available in white, black and purple
