Introduced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain during February, the Sony Xperia Z2 range of devices promised improvements to the hardware over their predecessors.
As with the Xperia Z and Z1 smartphones, and the Xperia Tablet Z, the Z2 range have an IP58 rating, which means it is dust resistant and waterproof.
The devices are set to launch in South Africa during the second quarter of 2014, with Sony SA’s head of marketing Andrew Fraser saying that they aim to have some of the devices in market by April 2014.
Sony expects that both the Sony Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet will be fully launched in South Africa by May 2014, Fraser said, with some deal differentiation between mobile operators.
Fraser also said that depending on the exchange rate, the devices will cost about the same as the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Tablet Z did at launch.
