Samsung Galaxy S5 SA pre-order price, pre-registrations open

Vodacom, Telkom Mobile, MTN, and Cell C, and a number of retailers have all launched pre-registration for the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The forms let consumers register their interest in buying the Galaxy S5 when it launches in South Africa on 11 April 2014

Orange South Africa has pre-orders open for the black, blue, gold, and white models of the device at R9,815.

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S5 on 24 February 2014, putting to bed many of the rumours that had been swirling about the device.

Some of the biggest changes announced for the device were as follows:

  • 16 megapixel (MP) camera with 0.3 second autofocus speed, Selective Focus, and what Samsung calls “advanced High Dynamic Range”;
  • A revamped user interface for the camera application;
  • Water resistant (up to 1 metre for 30 minutes) and dust proof (IP67 rating); and
  • Ultra Power Saving Mode, which turns the screen black and white and shuts down unnecessary features. Samsung said this can provide 24 hours of standby time per 5% battery remaining.
