Sony Xperia Z2 pre-order price, pre-registrations open in SA

Cellucity, a retailer that resells Vodacom products, has opened pre-registrations for the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone, while online retailer Orange has the devices listed on pre-order.

Orange lists both the black and white versions of the Sony Xperia Z2 for R9,815, the same price as listed for the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z2 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain towards the end of February 2014, and shortly thereafter showed it off to media in South Africa.

Head of marketing for Sony SA, Andrew Fraser, said that they aim to have some Xperia Z2’s available in South Africa by April 2014, with a full launch expected in May.

He said that depending on the exchange rate, the Sony Xperia Z2 will cost about the same at launch as the Xperia Z1 did.

As with its predecessors, the Xperia Z2 is rated IP58, which means it is waterproof and dust resistant.
