Beware Internet Explorer
According to a report by security software provider ESET, Internet Explorer is the most frequently targeted component of Windows when it comes to exploit attacks.
The number of attacks on Internet Explorer grew in 2014 compared to the year before, with Microsoft having to address twice as many security vulnerabilities.
“Fortunately for its users, a great number of these vulnerabilities were patched during the same year,” the report stated.
The most notable examples of the aforementioned vulnerabilities were the Unicorn bug and the BlackEnergy trojan, with the latter exploiting a bug in Microsoft PowerPoint.
