Some torrent trackers ban Windows 10

Torrentfreak has reported that several private torrent trackers have banned Windows 10, or are considering doing so, because of privacy concerns.

Recent reports also suggested that Microsoft would wipe torrents and pirated software from Widnows 10 users’ hard drives.

“Nonsense, of course, but all the recent privacy concerns were enough to have the operating system banned from several torrent trackers,” said Torrentfreak.

In a statement on Reddit, torrent tracker iTS informed people that “Windows 10 is officially banned from iTS”.

“Microsoft decided to revoke any kind of data protection and submit whatever they can gather to not only themselves, but also others,” said iTS.

“One of those is a large anti-piracy company called MarkMonitor. Among other things, Windows 10 sends the contents of your local disks directly to one of their servers.”

iTS said “obviously this goes way too far” and that it “is a serious threat to sites like ours”.
