Most popular programming languages
The latest PYPL Popularity of Programming Language Index reveals that Java remains the most popular programming language, followed by Python and PHP.
The Index is created by analysing how often language tutorials are searched on Google.
“The more a language tutorial is searched, the more popular the language is assumed to be. It is a leading indicator. The raw data comes from Google Trends,” said PYPL.
It is interesting to note that Python has seen strong growth (5.3%) over the last 5 years, while PHP has shown a sharp decline (-5%).
