PHP 7 was released recently, and is focussed on improved speed and upgrading PHP’s core interpreter.
Softpedia reported that benchmarks showed PHP 7 is almost twice as fast as PHP 5.x releases.
While improved performance is the main focus of PHP 7, there are new features which come with the latest version.
These features include scalar type declarations, return type declarations, null coalesce operator, spaceship operator, and many more. The full list is available here.
