Microsoft has announced that its new Outlook.com has been built on the latest Office 365 infrastructure, and does not support Windows Live Mail 2012.

“Windows Live Mail 2012 email application doesn’t support the protocols used by this new infrastructure,” said Microsoft.

When users upgrade their Outlook.com service, they will not be able to send or receive Outlook.com email from Windows Live Mail 2012 after their account is upgraded.

“This means the time has come for you to upgrade to a new email application.”
