Free South African Scratch Day event this Saturday

Introtech is one of over 480 organisers around the world who will participate in Scratch Day, which will be held on 14 May.

Scratch is a graphics-based, drag and drop, computer programming language designed by MIT to introduce learners to computer programming.

Local company Introtech is holding an event in South Africa on Saturday to celebrate the MIT Media Lab initiative.

Introtech’s Scratch Day event will be held at the Weltevreden Methodist Church (23 Noupit Ave, Roodepoort, Gauteng).

The event will run from 9:00 to 12:30 as a set of three 1-hour sessions, starting at 9:00, 10:15, and 11:30 respectively.

Each session will start with an introduction to computer programming, an overview of Scratch, and a demonstration of Scratch.

Learners will then use Introtech’s laptops to try Scratch programming using a set of exercise cards provided.

Attendance is free, and the target audience is grade 4, 5, 6, and 7 learners.
