Afrikaans added to Microsoft Translator

Microsoft has added Afrikaans to its Translator API, making it available for its apps and developers.

Microsoft Translator’s speech translation API will also support Afrikaans.

Afrikaans will be available in the following Microsoft products:

• Microsoft Translator apps for iOS, Android, and Windows 10
• Instant message translation in Skype for Windows desktop
• Microsoft Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Visio, and Word Online
• Microsoft SharePoint
• Document Translator
• Microsoft Translator Web Widget

How to activate Afrikaans translation in Microsoft Word

Microsoft provided instructions on how to activate Afrikaans translation in Word.

1. Click on “review”, then “translate”, and “translate selected text”.
2. At the bottom of the research pane, click on “get updates to your services”.
3. Follow the various pop-up windows prompts:
   • Update
   • Continue
   • Install
   • OK
